Intro post.

I have decided to create a website for my loved Sun Conure. His name is Charlie. He was hatched on or around October 31, 2012. I have adopted him when he was just 3 weeks old and had just little feathers. Boy did I bite of more than I could chew with this one. Ive had cockatiels, lovebirds, and budgies before. Never a larger parrot like a sun conure, I had no idea they are so needy and so much work. Especially if you plan on handraising one like I decided to do.

My other half surprised me one day and said we are going to go and get you that sun conure you wanted for a long time now. Me in shock was like "ummmmm". We called a breeder and he had baby sun conures available. An hour later... we had just adopted a 3 week old sun conure. Me being surprised by the idea was not prepared at all. We then rushed to the nearest Petco and shopped for all his baby needs. A homemade brooder, his feeding formula, some little stuffed animals for him to cuddle with. The whole rest of the day was getting him settled and fed. That first night I could not sleep, I kept constantly checking on the 3 week hatchling. Making sure that he was fine. Well each time I checked he was happily sleeping away. I was (and still am) just being a paranoid parent. I got te routine down on feeding times, play times, cuddle times, and everything that he needed. He even knows what time to wake up and what time is bed time. He is now about 9 weeks old as of today. He is still very needy and I think will always be. He is working on being a big boy now and trying to eat on his own. He still has formula for breakfast lunch and dinner. He eats his big boy food here and there but not enough to satisfy a full feeding. He sure does love his fruits and veggies though. He is still learning to eat them as well, even though he loved them I think he is just getting the juices out of the fruits and veggies.

He is cagefree almost 24/7. The only time he is in his cage is when its bed time. First thing when he wakes he is out till the time he goes to bed. Other than that he is out and about, free to do as he wishes. I have decided to clip his wings due to the fact that I dont trust the others in the house to keep the doors close and the fact that we also have a house cat. He does have a buddy that he plays with here and there with supervision. His name is Benny the lovebird. We also had hand raised him from 3 weeks of age as well. Charlie has other brothers and sisters too. They are a silkie chicken named Pheobie, and 3 button quails named Hobbes, Chipper, and L.E.

I hope yall enjoy this site and my blog. Please fallow, leave questions or comments.
